Kyami means to Ours – a spirit that belongs to the people, the land and the culture that inspires us. At Kyami Distillery, we don’t just make gin – we craft a story in every bottle. Our gin is an ode to Zambia’s rich landscapes, vibrant culture and the extraordinary botanicals that grow here – but also to the temperament of its people: kind, familiar and bold.

We are the first craft gin in the world to use almost exclusively Zambian ingredients, bringing under appreciated local fruits and botanicals into the spotlight.

Run by a husband and wife team, Kyami began with a simple idea: to take what’s mine – the knowledge, the heritage, the land – and make it ours. And with every bottle that finds its way into someone’s hands, it becomes even more so.

LEGACY AND FOUNDERS

Kyami Distillery is deeply rooted in a family tradition of craftsmanship and a passion for Zambia’s rich bounty of botanicals.

It began with the founders’ grandmother, who distilled fruit wines from the land around her. Their father carried on this legacy as a hobby, refining the practice with curiosity and care. Today, Kyami is led by a husband-and-wife team who took that heritage and elevated it into a premium craft gin.

Every bottle represents generations of knowledge, creativity and pride – brought together to share Zambia’s story with the world.

THE MEANING OF KYAMI

Kyami” translates to Ours – a name chosen to embody community, belonging and pride. To us, it means more than just ownership; it reflects a spirit that belongs to the people, the land and the culture that inspires us.

Our brand is built on the idea of crafting premium gin that embodies the rich botanical heritage of Zambia, using local ingredients and traditional methods with a modern twist.

Kyami Gin is the first craft gin in the world created almost entirely from Zambian ingredients. transforming under appreciated botanicals into something extraordinary. Each pour is not just a drink, but a story of Zambia’s landscapes, its traditions and its people.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY APPROACH

At Kyami, sustainability isn’t an afterthought – it’s how we work, every day. Our mango leaves are hand-picked from our own family orchard, while other botanicals are sourced from small-scale growers and foragers, supporting local livelihoods and preserving traditional knowledge.

We recycle water during distillation and power our distillery with solar energy, ensuring that creating something exceptional doesn’t come at the earth’s expense.

By celebrating and protecting Zambia’s natural resources, we ensure every bottle of Kyami is crafted with integrity – for today, and for generations to come.
